If there wasn’t already enough reason to be excited about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, here is more reason to fuel your Camaro hunger: Chevrolet has released the specs on the new Camaro.
Chevy’s basic plan, which always seems to work for them, is to add more power and remove weight. It especially works in this case. With the 2016 Camaro, that is just what they have done. Losing 390 pounds and being able to go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds is the 455 HP 6.2-liter V8 SS model with an automatic. If you choose manual, then it becomes 4.3 seconds.
For the V6, you can get to 60 in 5.1 seconds with the automatic and 5.2 with the stick. With the turbo 2.0-liter 4, the opposite is true. You will get to 60 in 5.4 with the stick and 5.5 with the automatic.
Chevy says they spent “9 million hours of computational time” to make the Camaro stiffer and lighter. They succeeded, and as a result they were able to take on a modern approach that specifically tailors to each Camaro model. You can take a look at that here: (click on the photo to enlarge)
In their press release, Chevrolet revealed this “Fast Fact:” The 2016 Camaro 2.0L Turbo’s 275 horsepower rating matches the output of the 1993-1995 Camaro Z28’s 5.7L V-8 – and offers comparable acceleration performance.
